My pancheons are inspired by the English country pottery bowls that were used to "stand milk" while the cream rises. Bowls like this were also used for bread dough, with the bread being baked in the same bowl after rising. These are very versatile in the kitchen for mixing, or on the table for salads, vegetables or fruit.
Historically, these were made of red earthenware clay, with the interior and rim coated with a white clay slip, then coated with a lead glaze, that made the underlying white slip look yellow. Ours are high fired stoneware, and completely lead free and food safe.
