Our White Clay, Red Clay and Soda Fired Stoneware are all made by Peter in his Rockdale, Wisconsin studio.  Each piece is hand thrown, one at a time on the potter's wheel.

Our Faux Finish pots, designed for the wholesale market and distributed by Napa Home & Garden, are produced by a wonderful group of potters in Honduras, who Peter has been working with since 1997.  

While all Wakefield Handmade is suitable for use outdoors in any climate, care should be taken in areas where temperatures drop below freezing for an extended period of time.  Our White Clay and Faux Finish pots are more porous than our Red Clay Pots.  This means that they can absorb water, and potentially be damaged if the pots are wet and temperatures drop below 25 degrees fahrenheit.  For more information, please see my blog post, "What Does Frost-Proof Mean?"

Studio in Stock items usually ship within 7 days. Pre-Order pots are made to order, and ship on the date specified in current Pre-Order collection, which is usually 4-5 weeks after the order is placed. If your order contains both Studio in Stock and Pre-Order items, we will ship them all together when the Pre-Order items come out of the kiln. (If you need the Studio in Stock items right away, please let us know).

We want you to be happy with your Wakefield Handmade pottery purchase. If that is not the case, we'llwork hard to make things right. If you decide the piece you ordered is just not right for you, (too big, too small, not the right color, etc.) you may return it for credit or refund, but you'll need to pay the return shipping costs. If there is some kind of defect to the piece that I failed to notice when I was packing it, we can work out the right replacement. (It usually doesn't make economic sense to ship pots back).

Our standard shipment method is UPS Ground, which will arrive to you within 2-5 days in the continental USA. If you need your order shipped to a PO box, then we'll ship it via USPS. If you need expedited shipment, please put in a request with your order, and we'll let you know what the additional charge will be.
