Long Tom pots were favored by Victorian era gardeners for deep rooted plants, and also for their aesthetic appeal. I've given my own twist to the form with what I call a zig zag scallop. It's a variation of the split rim scalloped pots I have made in the past, but the scallops are a bit more angular, and give a different rhythm to the rim.
