The Pastry Rim Bowl is inspired by the work of 19th century potter, Bernard Klais, who worked in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Klais had immigrated to America from Cologne, Germany, arriving in Milwaukee by boat in 1845, and then continuing on to southwestern Wisconsin, to ply his trade as a potter. The area was booming due to the mining of lead and tin, and needed tradesmen to help supply household articles for the growing population. Klais is particularly well known among 19th century Wisconsin potters for his ornamented and ruffled rims.

- Attached saucer is treated with acrylic sealer to be as water resistant as possible
